2007 Honda CR250R – The Final Honda 250 Two-Stroke

The 2007 Honda CR250R was largely a carryover refinement of the 2006 machine rather than a new generation, but historically it became one of the most significant CR250Rs because it was the final model year of Honda’s legendary 250 cc two-stroke motocross line.

Its 249 cc liquid-cooled engine retained the familiar 66.4 x 72.0 mm bore and stroke, reed-valve induction and 38 mm Mikuni TMX carburettor. The CR250R still delivered the sharp throttle response and relatively simple engine architecture that had made two-stroke motocross bikes popular for decades. Owners maintaining the original induction system can compare replacement carburettor options when worn or missing components need replacement.

Honda continued with its aluminium twin-spar chassis, 47 mm Showa twin-chamber fork and Pro-Link rear suspension. The combination gave the CR250R precise steering and substantial suspension adjustment for competition use. Correct servicing remains important on surviving machines, and the MXOwners fork oil reference can assist when working on the front suspension.

The 2007 model closed a CR250 lineage stretching back decades. Honda’s motocross development had shifted decisively toward the CRF four-strokes, and no 2008 CR250R followed. That final-year status has made the 2007 increasingly interesting to riders, restorers and collectors, while the MXOwners Parts Finder can help owners identify replacement components for keeping these last-generation CR250Rs in service.
