2007 Kawasaki KX250F – Refining Kawasaki’s Aluminium-Framed Four-Stroke
The 2007 Kawasaki KX250F was primarily a refinement of the major redesign introduced for 2006 rather than another new generation. Kawasaki retained the aluminium perimeter frame, compact 249 cc DOHC four-stroke engine and Showa suspension package, while making smaller changes intended to improve power delivery, durability and chassis balance.
The engine continued with a 77.0 x 53.6 mm bore and stroke, four-valve cylinder head and high 13.5:1 compression ratio. Fuel was delivered through a Keihin FCR 37 mm flat-slide carburettor, so jetting, accelerator-pump setup and fuel screw adjustment remained important parts of race preparation. Owners repairing worn or incomplete induction systems can compare replacement carburettor options when the original unit needs attention.
The aluminium perimeter frame introduced the previous year remained central to the KX250F’s character. Kawasaki continued to tune the bike toward sharp steering and strong front-end feel while maintaining stability over braking bumps and rough motocross terrain. The 47 mm Showa twin-chamber fork and Uni-Trak rear suspension offered extensive adjustment for competition use, and the MXOwners fork oil reference is useful when servicing the front suspension.
For owners today, the 2007 KX250F is interesting because it shared Kawasaki showrooms with the final-generation KX250 two-stroke. Riders could still choose between the lightweight, premix-burning 250 two-stroke and the newer high-revving 250 four-stroke. The KX250F represented where the class was heading, while the KX250 represented the closing chapter of Kawasaki’s traditional full-size two-stroke era.
