2026 TM Racing MX 250 ES 2T – Italian Two-Stroke Motocross Refined
The 2026 TM Racing MX 250 ES 2T is an evolutionary update rather than an all-new generation, but it remains one of the most distinctive 250 cc two-stroke motocross bikes still in production. Built in Pesaro, Italy, the TM combines traditional two-stroke architecture with unusually high-specification chassis components and modern electronics. Electric starting, introduced to this model for 2025, continues for 2026.
The 249.3 cc engine retains its proven 66.4 x 72 mm bore and stroke, V-Force reed induction and 38 mm Keihin PWK carburettor. An electronically controlled exhaust valve helps broaden the delivery while retaining the sharp response expected from a competition 250 two-stroke. Owners working with the original PWK can consult the MXOwners carburettor information and replacement options.
For 2026 TM concentrated on refinement rather than replacing the established platform. Updates include changes to the clutch, exhaust silencer, radiator deflectors and footpegs, together with revised rear-shock settings and new graphics. The aluminium Deltabox-style frame continues, matched to a 48 mm Kayaba AOS closed-cartridge fork with 310 mm of travel and TM Racing's own rear shock providing 300 mm.
Braking equipment remains an unusual premium combination, with a Brembo front system using a 270 mm disc and Nissin equipment at the rear with a 240 mm disc. Full-size 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels reinforce that the MX 250 ES is a dedicated motocross machine rather than an enduro model. Owners setting up or servicing the front end can also refer to the MXOwners fork oil reference.
The result is a modern motocross bike that still delivers the mechanical character that made big two-strokes famous. While most manufacturers have concentrated development on four-strokes, TM has continued refining its 250 two-stroke as a serious race motorcycle. The 2026 MX 250 ES is therefore both thoroughly modern and refreshingly traditional: aluminium chassis, premium suspension, electric starting and electronic exhaust control wrapped around a carburetted 250 cc two-stroke engine.
