Service NotesThe 2026 Triumph TF 450-X was officially announced on 23 September 2025 as a new standard-production 450cc motocross model following the 2025 TF 450-RC Edition. The TF 450-X uses the established 449.5cc SOHC four-stroke engine with a 95.0 mm bore, 63.4 mm stroke and 13.1:1 compression ratio. Triumph claims 62.4 PS at 9500 rpm and 49.9 Nm at 7000 rpm. The 2026 model introduces an updated EXEDY clutch hub with improved lubrication ports, a revised Belleville clutch spring, modified engine mounts and an updated gearbox selector star. Standard equipment includes electric starting, a five-speed gearbox, electronic quickshifter, launch control, traction control, selectable engine maps, Brembo brakes and KYB suspension. Front suspension travel is 310 mm and rear travel is 305 mm. Published dimensions include a 1492 mm wheelbase, 960 mm seat height, 836 mm handlebar width and 7.0-litre fuel capacity. The official launch specification lists 108.3 kg wet weight. Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft in 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 rear sizes, mounted on D.I.D DirtStar wheels. Verify spark plug type, electrode gap, engine oil specification, refill quantity and KYB fork oil service data using the 2026 factory service manual. Competition maintenance includes regular inspection of the air filter, engine oil, oil filter, valve clearances, cooling system, clutch, chain and suspension linkage.

2026 Triumph TF450-X – Triumph's First Standard-Production 450cc Motocross Machine

The 2026 Triumph TF450-X marks an important expansion of the British manufacturer's modern motocross range. Officially announced on 23 September 2025, the TF 450-X followed the introduction of the Ricky Carmichael-inspired TF 450-RC Edition for 2025. While the RC Edition established Triumph in the 450cc motocross category, the new TF 450-X brought the company's race-developed 450cc technology into a standard-production competition motorcycle. It joins the smaller TF 250-X in Triumph's growing off-road lineup.

At the centre of the TF450-X is a 449.5cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a single overhead camshaft, four valves and a 13.1:1 compression ratio. The 95 mm bore and 63.4 mm stroke provide the foundation for a high-performance competition engine producing a claimed 62.4 PS at 9500 rpm and 49.9 Nm at 7000 rpm. Premium internal components include a forged König aluminium piston and titanium valves. Electronic fuel injection uses a 44 mm Dell'Orto throttle body, Keihin injector and Athena engine-management system.

The 2026 model incorporates several mechanical developments that distinguish it from the earlier RC Edition. Triumph introduced a revised EXEDY clutch hub featuring optimised lubrication ports, increasing its ability to withstand repeated high-load operation. A new Belleville clutch spring is designed to improve clutch engagement consistency and rider feel. Revised engine mounts refine chassis behaviour, while an updated gearbox selector star improves shift engagement and durability. These changes reflect the practical requirements of competitive motocross, where repeated starts, jumps and gear changes place considerable stress on drivetrain components.

The five-speed transmission includes a standard electronic quickshifter, allowing clutchless upshifts between second and fifth gears. Triumph also equips the TF450-X with selectable engine maps, traction control and launch control. These features allow riders to adapt power delivery to changing track conditions and improve consistency during race starts. An optional Wi-Fi communication module works with Triumph's MX Tune Pro system to provide further electronic adjustment.

The TF450-X retains Triumph's lightweight aluminium spine and double-cradle frame, together with a hydroformed aluminium swingarm and linkage-operated rear suspension. Revised engine mounting points are intended to improve the balance between chassis stiffness and flexibility. The manufacturer lists a wet weight of 108.3 kg, making weight management a significant part of the motorcycle's competition-focused design. Neken triple clamps, ProTaper ACF carbon-core handlebars and ODI lock-on grips complete the rider control package.

Suspension equipment includes 48 mm KYB Air-Oil Separate coil-spring forks with 310 mm of front wheel travel and a KYB piggyback rear shock providing 305 mm of travel. The suspension settings were developed using experience gained with the TF 450-RC Edition and Triumph's racing programme. Compression and rebound damping adjustments allow riders to adapt the motorcycle to jumps, braking bumps and rough corners. The MXOwners rear suspension setup and adjustment guide provides additional information about suspension balance, rider sag and damping adjustments.

Braking equipment consists of Brembo hydraulic calipers working with 260 mm front and 220 mm rear Galfer discs. D.I.D DirtStar 7000-series aluminium rims are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft tyres, using an 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 rear combination. Owners considering alternative tyres can consult the MXOwners motocross tyre size guide for information about tyre markings, sizes and fitment.

As a high-performance four-stroke motocross motorcycle, the TF450-X requires regular servicing appropriate to competition use. Air-filter cleaning, engine oil and filter changes, valve-clearance inspections, cooling-system maintenance and drive-chain adjustment are important routine tasks. The MXOwners motorcycle parts finder provides a starting point for researching replacement components. With its revised clutch, updated gearbox components, premium suspension and sophisticated electronics, the 2026 TF450-X represents Triumph's transition from a specialist 450cc launch edition to a broader production motocross platform.
